If the father signed an Affidavit of Parentage and his name appears on the Birth Certificate a Paternity Action is not needed. In such a case the mother is awarded custody, and the father is awarded reasonable rights of visitation. Child Support is not established. If the father’s name does not appear on the Birth Certificate an action called a Complaint for Paternity must be filed. The attorney team at Ash & Ash Legal Group
